Hi Lori, I
just wanted to let you know that today we found out that Midas had
Hemangiosarcoma. This is a very aggressive cancer that effects blood
vessels and internal organs. Last night Midas was 100% fine, acting/eating/drinking/playing
just like normal. This morning when I woke up he was dull, listless,
and in pain. I took him to work with me where we ran bloodwork,
xrays, and an abdominal ultrasound. Ultrasound revealed a mass in
his spleen 10+cm (~5 inches) in diameter. The mass had ruptured and
he was bleeding into his abdomen. He was still not doing well, and
prognosis even with surgery was grave (we would be buying him days
to weeks, 19-83 days median survival). We opted to euthanize rather
than put him though a rough surgery and recovery.
