Hello
all,
yesterday we
went to a lure coursing held in RONOstrand, a recreational area and
camping ground close to Groningen, Netherlands. There were Habiba,
Cetta and five dogs of Lori Evans. There was also one wire haired
Podenco Ibicenco from Annemiek Hawkins entered, which had to run
together with the KtF.
The parcours was laid out on the beach of an
artificial lake, it included some obstacles and was quite long. You
could see that it took the dogs really some efforts to get some
speed in the sand.
The judging was done with the unique "Leek-system" (Leek
is a place nearby where the organising club has its club ground),
which is based on passing certain measuring-zones, juming over the
obstacles, go-bye etc. Not an advantage for experienced dogs, but
Cetta and I like Leek because they have always a demanding parcours.
The results of the first run were as follows (I did
not get the points of the Podenco):
r Sovrin Superman 13
w Faouziah's Chesen Amon An 3 1/2
r Habiba 15 1/2
w Katobi's Kryptonite 3 1/2
r Snout Notice Me Now (PI)
w XO Spectacular Spectacular 4
r Cetta 5
w Faouziah's Bohemia 11
Cetta avoided all obstacles
(there was a gap between them, which she immediately noticed); two
of Lori's dogs went into the water without a clear reason, and it
took them some moments until they took up chase again.
The second runs were
at about 18.20 h (summer time), when it was almost dark. I wonder
how the lure operator could see the lure! However, the dogs again
had good runs, and even Cetta did jump once, since the way between
the obstacles was maybe not so clearly visible.
Here the results from
the second round (in brackets the points from the first run, the
total points and the placement):
r Faouziah's Bohemia 11 1/2 (+11 = 22 1/2, 3rd place)
w Katobi's Kryptonite 4 1/2 (+3 1/2 = 8 7th place)
r Sovrin Superman 10 1/2 (+13 = 23 1/2, 2nd place)
w XO Spectacular Spect. 9 (+4 = 13 6th place)
r Snout Notice Me Now (PI)
w Faouz. Chesen Amon An 9 1/2 (+3 1/2 = 13 5th place)
r Habiba 9 (+15 1/2= 24 1/2 1st place)
r Cetta 8 1/2 (+5 = 13 1/2 4th place)
In the evening, they had a nice ceremony in the restaurant of the
camping ground, which did not only include the honouring of the
winners of the day, but of all successful Dutch dogs of the season
and the honouring of the winners of the Holland Coursing Cup.
It turned out that
Habiba became (as it was called) "Triple Champion" of theseason
2005, i.e. Dutch LC Champion, European Champion and Holland Coursing
winner.
There are 2 Holland Cups awarded. One for the best male and one for
the best female.
And Kal-el won the Holland Cup for the best male !
Congratulations -
well done !
Attached some photos;
you can recognise Habiba by the thin red-white-blue line on her red
blanket, which is a privilege of the dogs who became Dutch champion
that year; Lori's dogs wear the typical American racing blankets,
which look a bit like swimsuits.
Sahha,
Jan & Cetta
